Awards and Recognition

The Williamson County Auditor’s Office received the Texas Comptroller’s “Gold” Leadership Circle Award for their success in implementing financial transparency online.  The Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle is highlighting local governments that have opened their books to the public in a clear and user-friendly format.  The “Gold” Award is recognition for scoring 15 out of 15 possible points on the ratings criteria and is valid for one year.  The “Gold” designation highlights those entities that are setting the bar in their transparency efforts.

 

 

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA):
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR):
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Williamson County for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2010.  This was the 20th consecutive year that Williamson County has achieved this prestigious award.  In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report.  This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA):
Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR):

This report is also known as the “Citizen’s Report.”  The County Auditor began publishing this report for FYE 2005 in order to provide the citizens of Williamson County a much more “user-friendly” reporting of the county finances.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has given an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting to Williamson County for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2010.  The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports.  In order to receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, whose contents conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal. An Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year only.  Williamson County has received a Popular Award for the last 6 consecutive years (fiscal years ended 2005-2010).  A copy of this report can be found on this website under Financial Reports.

 

The Texas Association of County Auditors presented the 2010 Denise Linch Assistant County Auditor award to Julie Kiley during the 2010 Annual Conference in Lubbock, Texas.  Denise Linch lived from 1959 to 2008 and was able to capture the attention of the association for exceptional professionalism, courage, skill, perseverance, discipline, loyalty, and dedication to service.  Julie Kiley truly exhibits all of these qualities and, therefore, has been awarded the Assistant County Auditor of the Year.

Texas Association of Counties - Leadership Foundation - 2001 County Best Practices Innovation Award is conveyed to Williamson County Shifting the Paradigm of Governmental Financial Reporting for outstanding achievement and effective management of county government facilities, processes and programs.

This honor was awarded for excellence in our Financial Center which is an intra-net based reporting tool allowing all departments immediate and real-time access to fincial information from revenues and expenditures to available budget funds and balances.
