Commissioner Cynthia Long

Cynthia Long was elected as Williamson County Commissioner for Precinct Two in November 2006.  Prior to being elected as County Commissioner, she worked in various technical positions before moving into IT management for the State of Texas, where she worked for ten years.  In 1997, she started her own IT consulting company, which focused on information technology and project management.  
Commissioner Long has been active in the community since moving to Williamson County in 1988.   She was elected twice to the Cedar Park City Council, during which time she served as Mayor Pro-Tem, and also served on the Cedar Park Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the Round Rock Medical Center Board of Directors.  Commissioner Long served on the Williamson County Metro YMCA Board and was the founding Chairman of the Twin Lakes Family YMCA.  Commissioner Long was also the Vice Chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party for three years.  Additionally, Commissioner Long was appointed to and currently serves on the Board of the Directors for the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.

Commissioner Long hosted a ribbon cutting for the  extension of San Gabriel Parkway Phase 2 on November 2, 2011.  Phase 2 extends San Gabriel Parkway from 183A to CR 270, a distance of approximately .9 miles.  The contractor was Ranger Excavating, and the construction cost was approximately $1.2 million.  The project was completed on time in 8 months.  Two additional segments of San Gabriel Parkway are currently under construction by the City of Leander and CTRMA.  When those segments are complete, San Gabriel Parkway will serve as an east-west corridor from Bagdad Road to CR 270.

On March 31, 2011, Commissioner Cynthia Long hosted a ground breaking for San Gabriel Parkway.  The project extended San Gabriel Parkway from 183A to CR 270, and provided for the construction of the northern two lanes of the ultimate westbound section.  The project was constructed by Ranger Excavation for approximately $1.18 million and is estimated to be completed in Spring 2012.

February 7, 2011 (Williamson County, TX) – Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long hosted the groundbreaking for Hero Way on February 10.  Hero Way is a new east-west, four-lane roadway that runs north of RM 2243 and will intersect US 183 on the west end and CR 269 on the east. The road was designed by Pape Dawson Engineers and is being constructed by DNT Construction at a cost of $4.23 million.

On January 28, 2011, Commissioner Cynthia Long, Precinct 2, hosted a ribbon cutting for CR 214 Phase 2A.  The CR 214 Phase 2A project extended from Rolling Hills Road to San Gabriel Ranch Road, approximately 1.32 miles.  It was a reconstruction of the existing roadway from 10-foot travel lanes with no shoulders to 12-foot travel lanes with 8-foot shoulders.  The project was designed by Rogers Design Services and was constructed by FT Woods Construction for a price of $1.2 million.
