Highway 29 Transportation Plan Open House - Friday, March 27, 2009

Precinct Two will be holding an open house to get public input on Williamson County's updated transportation master plan. The County is seeking feedback on what roads should be built or improved over the next twenty-five years, as well as various transit options, to help address expected growth; this plan will guide these future capital improvements. The engineering firm URS was hired to manage and develop the plan for the County, working in close collaboration with each of the cities in the County.

The Open House will be on Monday, April 6th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Pat Bryson Hall, 201 N. Brushy Street, in Leander.

Brushy Creek Regional Trail Phase III Grand Opening - Saturday, March 07, 2009

The Brushy Creek Regional Trail celebrated the opening of its newest phase that brought the trail to an impressive length of six miles. The trail meanders along Brushy Creek from just east of Great Oaks Drive west to Twin Lakes Park at US 183 in Cedar Park and offers a relaxing atmosphere with the convenience of being minutes away from many bustling communities. Several parks located along the trail provide amenities accessible to walkers, runners and bikers consisting of splash pads, swimming areas, climbing rocks, fishing docks, canoeing and kayaking, restrooms and multiple picnic and pavilion areas. The trail links residential communities, businesses and retail centers and existing and proposed parks while promoting conservation and stewardship of open space, greenbelts and wetlands.
There was a 5K TrailSetter Race hosted by the Greater Williamson County YMCA and a kids 1k. Commissioner Long spoke at the ceremony. Please see http://www.wilco.org/Portals/0/Departments/Parks/BrushyCreekPhase3lg.jpg for more information and a map.

 


Brushy Creek Regional Trail - Friday, July 11, 2008

Commissioner Long broke ground on Phase Three of the Williamson County Brushy Creek Regional Trail at Twin Lakes Park in Cedar Park. This phase of the trail is 2.7 miles long and extends the trail from Cedar Park's Brushy Creek Lake Park to Twin Lakes Park. According to Commissioner Long, "This phase is anticipated to be one of the most scenic parts of the trail." In addition to its beauty, near this portion of the trail are granite boulders that fell off of the train when they were on their way to our state capital.

 


Ronald Reagan Boulevard Now Open from 1431 to 3405 - Friday, February 22, 2008
On January 30, 2008, Commissioner Long and the rest of the Commissioners Court opened another section of Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Williamson County began the Ronald Reagan Boulevard project in 2001 and plan to continue construction until the road connects with Interstate 35 near Jarrell. Ronald Reagan Boulevard provides a much needed road through the County to the west of Interstate 35.

First Annual Precinct Two Open House - Thursday, January 31, 2008
On January 31, 2008, Commissioner Long, along with the other elected officials and department heads officering in the Precinct Two, Cedar Park annex hosted an Open House. Citizens were invited to visit the offices in the building to learn more about the services offered by the County from this location. Refreshments served and door prizes provided by local businesses were given away. Over 200 citizens were in attendance.
 


Liberty Hill Panthers Varsity Football team recognized by Commissioners Court - Tuesday, January 22, 2008
On January 22, 2008, the Williamson County Commissioners Court passed a resolution recognizing the achievements of the Liberty Hill High School Varsity Football team. Liberty Hill repeated as 3A State Football Champions.
